Overview

The University of Washington softball team represents the University of Washington in NCAA Division I college softball. The Huskies compete in the Pac-12 Conference and play their home games at Husky Softball Stadium in Seattle, Washington. The team has won two national championships, in 2009 and 2018, and has appeared in the Women's College World Series 12 times.

Coaching Staff

The Huskies are coached by Heather Tarr, who is in her 19th season as head coach. Tarr has led the Huskies to two national championships, six Pac-12 championships, and 12 Women's College World Series appearances. She is assisted by associate head coach J.T. D'Amico and assistant coaches Kyle Manion and Tylyn Wells.

Roster

The Huskies' roster features a mix of experienced players and talented newcomers. The team is led by senior infielder Sis Bates, who was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2022. Other key players include junior outfielder Sami Reynolds, sophomore pitcher Gabbie Plain, and freshman infielder Baylee Klingler.

Schedule

The Huskies' 2023 schedule features a challenging mix of non-conference and Pac-12 opponents. The team will open the season with a pair of games against the University of San Diego on February 9th and 10th. The Huskies will then travel to California for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, where they will face off against some of the top teams in the country, including the University of Oklahoma, the University of Texas, and the University of Arizona. The Huskies will open Pac-12 play on March 9th with a series against the University of Utah. The Huskies will also face off against the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Oregon, and the University of Stanford during the Pac-12 season.

Outlook

The Huskies are poised to have another successful season in 2023. The team returns a strong core of players from last year's team, which won the Pac-12 championship and advanced to the Women's College World Series. The Huskies also have a talented group of newcomers who are expected to contribute immediately. The Huskies are ranked #3 in the preseason polls, and they are expected to contend for another national championship in 2023.
